Trezor Suite® — Getting Started 🚀

Welcome to the official Trezor Suite guide. Follow these steps to securely manage your crypto with your Trezor hardware wallet.

What Is Trezor Suite?

Trezor Suite is the official desktop/web interface that works hand‑in‑hand with your Trezor hardware wallet. It enables you to:

The concept is simple: your private keys never leave the physical Trezor device. All transactions must be confirmed on the hardware itself, giving you strong protection against malware or remote attacks.

Tip: For optimal security and experience, always download the Suite from the official site and verify the digital signature.

Before You Begin

Let’s make sure you have what’s needed to get started safely and smoothly:

⚠️ Never store your recovery seed in a photo, digital file, or screenshot. If someone gains access to it, they gain access to your funds.

Getting Started: Step by Step

Step 1: Visit trezor.io/start

Open your browser and navigate to trezor.io/start. This is the official onboarding portal. Avoid navigating via search ads or email links (they might be phishing attempts).

Step 2: Download & Install Trezor Suite

Pick the correct version for your operating system (Windows, macOS, Linux). Run the installer and open Trezor Suite when done. Alternatively, you can opt to “Continue in browser,” though desktop is recommended for stability and security.

Step 3: Connect Your Device 🔌

Plug your Trezor into your computer via USB. The app should detect it automatically. If it doesn’t, you may need to install Trezor Bridge or grant permission in your browser.

On a brand‑new Trezor, you’ll often be prompted to install firmware immediately.

Step 4: Install or Update Firmware

The Suite will guide you to install or update firmware if needed. Confirm prompts on your device when required. This is an essential step to ensure you have the latest security features and compatibility.

Step 5: Create a New Wallet

Select Create New Wallet in the Suite. Your device will generate a recovery seed (usually 12 or 24 words). Write down each word carefully and in order. The Suite will later ask you to verify your seed.

If you lose this seed, you will lose access to your funds if your device is lost or damaged.

Step 6: Set a PIN

Choose a 4–9 digit PIN directly on your device (or screen). You’ll use this PIN each time you unlock your Trezor in the future.

Step 7 (Optional): Enable Passphrase

You may enable a passphrase as an extra “25th word” of protection. If you use it, every session can unlock a different wallet. Be cautious — if you forget the passphrase, you lose access to funds under it.

Step 8: Add Accounts & Coins

Go to Accounts → Add account in the Suite. Choose supported networks (Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc.). When you receive funds, validate the address on your device before sharing.

Step 9: Send, Receive & Explore

Send crypto by entering a recipient address, amount, and check fees. Confirm every detail *on your Trezor device*. Receive by clicking “Receive” and verifying the address on‑device.

You can also explore additional features: coin control, fee customization, address labeling, portfolio overview, and integrated swap/exchange features (when available).

Security Best Practices 🔐

🛡️ The design of Trezor Suite ensures no matter how compromised your computer becomes, it cannot sign transactions without your explicit confirmation on the hardware device.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Can I use Trezor Suite without a hardware device?

You can explore parts of the interface, but to manage actual funds securely, pairing with a Trezor is essential.

What if I lose my Trezor?

Your funds are derived from the recovery seed, not the device. Use your seed to restore the wallet on a new device or compatible wallet software.

What if I forget my PIN?

You can’t recover the PIN. But if you have your recovery seed, you can wipe the device and restore your wallet, then set a new PIN.

Can I recover an existing wallet?

Yes — during setup, choose “Recover wallet” instead of “Create new.” Enter your seed words to restore your accounts.

What coins and tokens are supported?

Trezor Suite supports a wide selection of cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, and many ERC‑20 tokens. (Check the official “Supported assets” list for updates.)

What if firmware/update fails?

Ensure your internet is stable. Try another USB cable or port. Restart your computer. Avoid interference from antivirus or firewall that may block the update.

How do I verify the address I'm sending to?

Always compare the address shown in the Suite to the one shown on your device screen. They must match exactly before approving.
